We’re only three-quarters of the way through 2010, and there have already been countless note-worthy songs released by artists many of us have grown to love and even more by rising acts who are making names for themselves like never before. With this seemingly unending pool of excellent new material, it’s extremely difficult to only include certain songs, but I’ve narrowed it down to the 23 that I’ve listened to most consistently so far this year. The following are, to me, Showstoppers — songs which I sometimes have to pause halfway through in order to let my mind to catch up with what I’m hearing. This is not a “best of” list, nor is it by any means comprehensive; I’d need to listen to a lot more music for a lot more hours a day to create a truly well-rounded list. However, the following tracks have seen incessant playtime on my end since the first time I’ve heard each one. They mean a lot to me and even more to the musicians who made them, so if you like any in particular, do what you can to support the artists. In the end, I did this for fun/to make myself a great playlist, so I hope you enjoy the songs on this compilation as much as I do. The numbers don’t signify rank, just the way the ended up to make the album play smoothly. Track list after the jump, man.

Toujours, TRGEO.

BEAT THE RADAR…….
click the pic above.
We thought it would only be polite to to start the blog with a review of a gig last night (18/09/09)in Manchester that we know has at least one band on the bill that’ll get us attempting to sing the words to every song.
We’ve seen BEAT THE RADAR at least half a dozen times now,and the first time in a tiny room of The ‘old’ (rip)Castle Hotel pub a good 18months ago stirred our interest.Way back then, walking into the room where you couldn’t swing a drum stick never mind a cat, with no sound engineer or promoter-they had something which made my ears prick up!..
Catchy lyrics, jangley guitars, driving basslines, and abit of crunchy noise thrown in too….and tonight many gigs and a single release later, they deserve a sold out venue with a horde of indie boys and girls shouting for more!!…I like indie you see.i like the full package.,the quirkiness, the charm and intelligence with melody and noise,a dropped note in a haze of onstage smiles, and BTR do this package very well.(More of the smiles rather than the dropped notes though.)
The Roadhouse is hardly full and BTR are on before headliners Optional Wallace. And as always really, they creep onstage almost apologetically- almost as if theyd hoped nobody would notice. But by there second song you can see the confidence they’ve gained onstage, sure you can hear there influences but  in my mind its broad, anything from bits of Sonic Youth guitars,to The Smiths joyous moments.Indie pop that’s anthemic, smiley and often very infectious.
There sets of late are short…so i cant wait till they air more from there debut album, and hopefully that’ll include our favourites Pretend to Play Guitar,Misunderstood and By the Sea.To BTRs  credit they are able leave these tracks off the set list because they have so many other pop tunes to play.
Cant wait to Pretend to Play Guitar when the album comes out guys!
But tell no-one!
Go buy single,TELEPHONE CONVERSATION is out now!
